The is a short story that I thought up while lying in bed one night. It might've been done before, I have no idea. I just wanted to share it here.
One autumn afternoon, a car was driving down a winding, gravel road though the forest. The car eventually reached an opening, where it parked. A few men got out of the car and walked towards
a large hole in the ground.
The hole was a perfect circle in shape, and so deep that the bottom couldn't be seen. For all anyone knew, it didn't have a bottom.
The older gentlemen was the first to speak. He was middle-aged, maybe older, and seemed to be a local of the area. "This here is what folks call the 'Erasing Hole'," he said.
"They say whatever falls into this hole is not only gone forever, but everyone will completely forget about it."
The younger man, who was visiting the area, looked into the hole with doubt. "I don't think something like that is possible, but I suppose I'll try it." The visitor then knelt down,
picked up something off the ground, and threw it into the hole.
"Well, are you gonna try it?" the old man asked.
"Huh? I just d-" The visitor stopped mid-sentence. He suddenly realized that he wasn't sure what he had picked up. He looked towards the ground. Some gravel from the road they came in was near his feet.
Feeling his own hand again, the visitor deduced that he threw in a small rock. It appeared the locals were correct.
The old man and the visitor talked for a little while longer before deciding to leave. The old man got into the car and started the engine, while the visitor walked around and opened
the door to the back seat. The old man interrupted him. "What are doing? Get in the front seat with me."
"Ah, okay," the visitor responded, "I rode in the back seat coming in here, but I can take the front if you want." The old man only gave a brief puzzling look as the visitor switched seats. The car then drove
off onto the gravel road and back into the forest.
The End.
